Turning to painting as a new endeavor, after a lifetime in advertising,
I tended to paint in the representational style sampled on this page.
Such work was well received and many people like my efforts in this area,
but I soon found that I needed another voice, a less defined posture,
to impart my thinking.
What I really wanted to do was make paintings that were as varied as music,
paintings that reflected nothing but my own thoughts and, like music,
represented only themselves.
Every bit as valid as my approach had been to a creative problem,
these newer, more abstract solutions run parallel to the processes
used in my previous work. In them I’ve found new paths:
